In Tanneron, every year, the Mimosa Festival takes place. Provencal and craft markets, children’s carnival, folk dances, flower float parades and musical entertainment welcome many tourists.
Lake Saint-Cassien, a much sought-after site
The Saint-Cassien lake extends over 4 villages: Tanneron, Callian, Montauroux and Les Adrets de l’Estérel.
With a surface area of 420 hectares, it allows you to take part in various activities such as fishing, rowing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle, mountain bike hire, but also inflatable games and adventure rallies. There is also a beach volleyball and petanque court at the Maison du Lac.
Originally designated for the production of hydroelectric power, this lake, a real source of summer coolness, has become the most coveted leisure spot in the Pays de Fayence.
The Fondurane biological reserve, managed by the Conservatoire d’espaces naturels de Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, is located on the eastern side of the lake. It is home to 182 observed species of birds, the red swallow, the European pond terrapin, as well as one of the three stations of the False Cork Oak and the Hairy Oak. Guided walks in the heart of the reserve are offered regularly and an observatory is accessible to discover the local fauna and flora.
With its terrace, its shop selling local products, its discovery area and its tourist information point, the Maison du Lac is the welcome structure of the Pays de Fayence.
Taste the mimosa syrup and take home a souvenir from the wide choice offered by the local producers. Honeys, biscuits, wines, olive oil, sweets and jams, but also soaps, artisanal pottery and perfumes, will seduce you.
And to find out more about the EDF dam, geology and the history of the Pays de Fayence, a scenography is set up in the discovery area. As well as a relief table of the area, explanatory panels and video screens.
In addition, with the help of a virtual reality helmet, you can dive into a river and, thanks to a holographic aquarium, discover the aquatic fauna.
