If you’re in Cannes in May, you can combine your stay (business or otherwise) with the festivities of the famous International Film Festival. But seeing the stars and their films is not the only way to go out during this event. There are several places to party and make the most of your stay on the Côte d’Azur.
Fun nights out
Several places open their doors to you during the Cannes Film Festival. You can go with friends, recent acquaintances, or even alone without any problem.
If you need to unwind after a hard day’s work, why not spend some time at the Villa Schweppes? The place welcomes you from 10am (and is therefore perfect for early risers) and allows you to enjoy its solarium with a view of the Palais des Festivals and Yogalab classes to relax. From 5pm onwards, the music wakes up and you can spend a quality time having fun to the sound of the most famous DJs of the moment. The Villa Schweppes takes place in Cannes only during the Festival.
Another ephemeral nightclub: the VIP Room is the creation of Jean Roch. The music, the festive atmosphere and the possibility to dance next to the stars (the place is very popular) are the major assets of the place. If you’re staying in Cannes for a few days, this is a must for relaxation. You can also discover other clubs that take up residence in Cannes during the Festival, such as Silencio or the Gotha Club. Stars are regularly invited there to liven up the evenings, as is the case at Club Coste by Albane, where film celebrities come and go in a very unrestrained atmosphere.
Not a nightclub person? You will be delighted to discover the Grey Goose, a bar that puts vodka in the spotlight. Exceptional drinks (to be consumed in moderation) and particularly delicate snacks (caviar is very present) await you for a quality late afternoon. Need to relax without splurging? Then Magnum Beach is the place for you. The famous ice-cream parlour takes place during the Festival and organises events with the stars of the moment.
Feeling hungry? If nibbling on an ice cream isn’t enough, you can also eat at the very famous restaurant Le Tetou. Even if the place is not in Cannes itself (it is located in Golfe Juan), it attracts many stars and offers a quality gastronomy made from local seafood (lobsters in particular).
Do you want to do something else?
Of course you can do other activities during the film festival. Why not plan a trip to the sea? Pretend you’re a star and hire a catamaran for a different view of the city. You can reach the Lérins islands in the sunshine and relax in this exceptional setting far from the crowd.
During this period, the whole of the Côte d’Azur is at the party and you can visit the most famous towns of the Riviera (Nice, Saint-Tropez, Monte-Carlo…). Do you have the soul of an explorer? You can take part in a treasure hunt or a survival course in the city of Nice.
There are also many museums (world exploration museum, iron mask museum, underwater eco-museum, etc.) and exhibition centres (Villa Domergue, Malmaison, Suquet des artistes, etc.).
Getting around easily
If you’ve ever been to Cannes during the Festival, you’ll know that the Croisette and the surrounding area are overrun! And of course, getting around can become complicated. If you’ve had a few drinks after a party or simply don’t want to waste any time during your stay, you may need a quality means of transport.
That’s when hiring a private driver is a great idea. You can plan your trips and book your vehicle very easily online. You are guaranteed to find a car when you need it and where you need it.
